New Indiana Law Against Nudes In Art

Brandon

Check this out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How ironic, I just put in my blog a few days ago I do nudes.  For hundreds of years, artists have painted and sculpted nudes. Art books are full of them!  Read about this new Indiana law.

Indianapolis - A new Indiana law could force your local bookstore, or the Indianapolis Museum of Art, to pay a fee for selling adult material. The law was originally designed to target adult bookstores. But because of vague language, legitimate stores fear they'll be lumped in as lewd. Now there's a lawsuit filed in an attempt to stop the legislation.  Go to this link to read more.

On a lighter note, I want to wish all the mothers out there a Happy Mother's Day Sunday.  In honor of Mother's Day, I am putting a portrait of my son on today's blog.  (By the way, he graduates college this Saturday. I am so proud of him, he has worked very hard!  A great Mother's Day present for me!!! )

Almost Nude Portrait

Cassandra

I have been asked if I do nudes.  Yes I do.  I do think covering just a little bit of skin adds mystery to a figure, and therefore much more interesting.  When I had more time I went to life drawing/painting sessions at the Herron School of Art here in Indianapolis in the evening.  I want to get back into it.  It is so nice to work from life. Most all of my portraits are done from photo's due to the fact people just don't want to take the time for a sitting. This painting can be viewed  larger size if you click on  "Paintings", then "Oil Portrait Examples" on my site.

Reflections On Glass

Reflections On Glass

Study of reflections on glass.  This painting is an original oil for sale in my "Still Life" section. The reflections on shiny objects such as glass are very interesting to me.  You never know what light, color, or shapes are going to appear.  With just a slight move of the subject, you get a different image to paint.

Time Heals

Time Heals is a print available on my site in the figurative collection.  This has been a very popular painting. The little girl in this painting broke her arm at the beginning of her summer vacation. This explains the disappointed look on her face.  She is playing with her watch, which is how I came up with the title "Time Heals". A print of this painting was chosen for a governors award here in Indiana.  The award went to a person that went above and beyond her duty to try to get health care for children.
